DeSales University
APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 15, 2015
DeSales University established the Department of Nursing and Health in 1974, along with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. In 2005, the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN program began at DeSales University. The Accelerated BSN program enables students to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) in 15 consecutive months. Individuals with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing major and senior baccalaureate students are eligible to apply to the Accelerated BSN program. The last two cohorts of the Accelerated BSN all passed the NCLEX exam on the first attempt, earning our program an 100% NCLEX pass rate for two consecutive years!
This fast paced format provides the same quality of standard nursing courses, laboratory hours, clinical hour requirements, and clinical facilities as those students pursuing the Traditional BSN program. At the completion of all program requirements, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
The Department of Nursing and Health also offers Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs in four tracks: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Nurse Practitioner and MSN/Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Additionally, DeSales established the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in Clinical Leadership and the DNP Executive Leadership track with a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) option.
The nursing programs at DeSales University have consistently maintained full approval by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) since the time that they were first eligible for approval and accreditation.
