January 2025 The NursingCAS Dispatch is a monthly newsletter designed to update you on current happenings at NursingCAS. The newsletter features:
NURSINGCAS KNOW-HOWReminder: 2023-2024 Cycle Close The 2023-2024 NursingCAS application cycle will close on January 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time. That is the last date applicants are able to submit applications in the 2023-2024 cycle. That is also the last date for deadlines on the current application and the last day for applicants in the “Undelivered” status to resubmit their application. Applicants can carry their data and transcripts over to the next application cycle using the Re-Applicant feature. School users will still be able to review applications and access WebAdMIT after the cycle closes. NursingCAS Advisory Group NursingCAS is excited to announce the selection of members for the NursingCAS Advisory Group. This initiative is a vital part of NursingCAS and AACN, and members represent and advocate for the full range of academic nursing programs and institutions. Advisory Group members will provide their input on important NursingCAS operations, marketing, and development.
We appreciate the commitment of our members to advancing this important work. The NursingCAS Advisory Group is supported by Taylor Jaczko (AACN, Director of Application Services) who serves as the staff liaison. Call for NursingCAS Enhancements Do you have a suggestion that can improve the NursingCAS application? Is there a feature, process, or report that can enhance WebAdMIT (the backend admissions platform)? Submit enhancement ideas by Friday, January 10 for the upcoming 2025-2026 cycle. Last year, users submitted almost two dozen ideas, and many were implemented for the most recent cycle. AACN, Liaison International, and the NursingCAS Advisory Group strive to ensure continuous improvement of the NursingCAS platform. This team will review, assess, and prioritize all submitted ideas. NursingCAS Applicant Newsletter & Recruitment Event Calendar The NursingCAS Applicant Newsletter, provided by AACN, is emailed to 160,000+ NursingCAS applicants the third week of every month. This newsletter is for programs affiliated with NursingCAS only. Program submissions are FREE, due on the Friday before publication, and can be submitted in advance of their intended publication month. Posts must relate to one of the three topics below. Please submit an announcement using the Newsletter Form on our website. Here is some additional information on how schools can leverage each section of the Applicant Newsletter:
We recommend including contact information for representatives or links to your website and the NursingCAS application within the announcement. Visit the Newsletter Archive for samples of previous submissions. This reminder is sent out only twice annually. Primary contacts are encouraged to bookmark the link to the Submission Portal and to set a standing reminder to submit the content they would like advertised to potential applicants. Another way to promote your program’s recruitment events is on the NursingCAS School Events Calendar. Events shared on the calendar include student information sessions, virtual fairs, open houses, and other recruitment events that connect your institution with potential applicants. The Events Calendar is distributed to 160,000+ students each month alongside the Applicant Newsletter and is available on the NursingCAS website. You can submit items to the Events Calendar at any time using the Applicant Event Form. If a submission needs to be modified, please email nursingcas@aacnnursing.org. Register Now! Experience: LIAISON | San Antonio Registration for Liaison International’s Experience: LIAISON | San Antonio is now open! This three-day event will take place on June 16 – 18, 2025. Join Liaison’s community of higher education admissions and enrollment professionals as they celebrate, connect, discover, and grow. The registration fee is $695, and group discounts are available. Additional information is available in the conference Help Center. WebAdMIT Sandbox Environment Refresh Are you utilizing the WebAdMIT Sandbox? If not, you should be! Sandbox is a duplicate test platform useful for testing and training purposes; any actions performed in Sandbox will not affect the live data in production. This tool provides users with a safe, “near-production” environment to test applications and run sample exports, among other actions. The WebAdMIT Sandbox is a copy of the WebAdMIT production environment with sensitive applicant information (such as surnames, email addresses, etc.) obfuscated. The WebAdMIT Sandbox is refreshed between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET every Monday. If Monday is a US or Canadian holiday, deployment is the next business day and includes all system changes from the preceding release. The WebAdMIT Sandbox environment is refreshed with current (cleansed) production data and program configurations. Any test exports, custom fields, etc., in the current Sandbox will be overwritten. New Schools that Joined NursingCAS in 2024 In 2024, NursingCAS welcomed twenty-four new institutions into our community! We are excited to continue growing with you in 2025. USER UPDATESThis section provides monthly updates on new features and enhancements available within the Applicant Portal, Configuration Portal, WebAdMIT, and information on upcoming training opportunities. Please note that these are only a few highlights of Liaison’s recent enhancements. A complete list of recent WebAdMIT Release Notes is available. Subscribe to WebAdMIT Release Notes WebAdMIT Release Notes provide a summary of enhancements and new features that are made available in the Applicant Portal, Applicant Gateway, Configuration Portal, Letters by Liaison, and WebAdMIT. Want to receive Release Notes emails? Subscribe here. Updated Detailed Military Status Question NursingCAS includes a Military Status question (i.e., asking the applicant if they have military experience and any applicable details such as branch, dates served, etc.) in the Other Information section. With this enhancement, if an applicant selects “Not a member of the military” when indicating their military experience, all additional questions (e.g., branch, dates served, etc.) are hidden. Previously, these additional questions appeared but were optional. This enhancement removes potential applicant confusion and incorrect data collection. Additional Fields Added to Export File You can download program data using the Export button on the Organization Details page. With this enhancement, the following fields have been added to all worksheets to help clarify data within the file:
*These fields may have different names or collect different information in CAS. Contact a member of your account team to learn more. Readability Improvements for Application Notes The Notes panel on the Applicant Details page allows you to add internal, custom notes to applications. To improve readability, you can now add line breaks and carriage returns, which WebAdMIT will keep in both the Applicant Details page and Export Manager when saved. Previously, WebAdMIT removed the formatting when saving the note. All Requested Recommendations Visible in WebAdMIT Applicant recommendation (i.e., letter of evaluation, letter of reference) requests are listed in the Applicant Details page under the Evaluations panel. Previously, only recommenders who had accepted the recommendation request or had a previous account in Liaison Letters, the Recommender Portal, would be listed in WebAdMIT. With this enhancement, all recommendation requests are now listed in WebAdMIT, giving you greater visibility into the applicant’s recommendation request statuses. This enhancement was inspired by user feedback via the Ideas Portal. Updated IP Addresses for Production Environment WebAdMIT will have a planned migration of IP addresses for the production (i.e., live) environment. This migration is scheduled for Sunday, January 12, 2025 and WebAdMIT will be unavailable during this migration. If you safe-listed the entire range of IP addresses (available on the Technical Requirements page), you do not need to make any changes. If you safe-listed a smaller set of IP addresses, you should notify your IT department and either safe-list the entire range or the new smaller set. Contact a member of your account team for the smaller set of IP addresses. Note that the IP address changes impact inbound traffic only (e.g., sending data into WebAdMIT using the WebAdMIT API); IP addresses for outbound traffic are not affected. CAS Configuration Portal Help Center The CAS Configuration Portal Help Center has been refreshed with updated screenshots, page layouts, and a new article on closing, archiving, and deleting programs. Q&AQ: Why does NursingCAS charge an application fee? A: Because NursingCAS is offered to schools as a free AACN member benefit, application fees are necessary to cover the cost of operations and continue delivering a quality experience to both school and student users. This includes system maintenance, continuous improvement of the application software, and the support and verification teams that work year-round to support inquiries from admissions users and applicants. NursingCAS application fees are significantly lower than those other health professions require. Schools looking to reduce the cost of applying to their programs can explore our Coupon Codes – application fee discounts that schools can use to incentivize applicants to apply. Interested schools can purchase coupon codes from Liaison International and provide them to selected applicants. Schools can also direct students toward the Fee Waiver resource that AACN allocates for applicants each cycle. Support for WebAdMIT School Users Make sure to sign up to receive important notices through the Liaison CAS Status page for updates on future CAS and WebAdMIT outages.
