The NursingCAS Applicant Newsletter is a monthly newsletter intended to keep you informed about programs with available space, deadline extensions, and new programs added to NursingCAS. The newsletter will feature:

  • Open Seats: One of the benefits of NursingCAS is to provide notifications to applicants about programs that have available space. Review the listing below to determine if you would like to apply to one of these programs.
  • Deadline Extensions: Programs often extend their deadlines in order to allow applicants more time to complete the admissions process. Review the list below to see if any programs you are interested in have extended their deadline.
  • New Programs: New programs are added to NursingCAS on a continual basis. Discover and learn about new program offerings available to you by reviewing the listings below.

Applicants can also view the NursingCAS Events Calendar, where NursingCAS schools provide prospective students with information on events like upcoming webinars and information sessions throughout the application cycle.

The 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 Academic Update Windows 

The 2023-2024 Fall Academic Update (AU) II will open on Monday, December 2:

  • 2023-2024 cycle: December 2, 2024 – January 10, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET

The 2024-2025 Fall Academic Update (AU) I will open on Monday, December 16:

  • 2024-2025 cycle: December 16, 2024 – February 14, 2025, 11:50 p.m. ET

Please review and complete the three-step process to submit an AU request by the designated deadline above.

The AU allows applicants to update final grades for previously entered planned/in-progress coursework (i.e. Spring 2024) or enter newly-planned coursework (i.e. Fall 2024) since NursingCAS verification. Applicants are eligible for AU if at least one of their programs is in ‘Verified’ status by the AU request deadline. Application status can be viewed under the Check Status tab in NursingCAS. Upon submission of the AU request, NursingCAS will verify the applicant’s new grades, calculate an updated GPA, and send this information to their programs. While an AU is optional, some programs require this information for admissions consideration.

Students are encouraged to submit their request for new transcripts to their Registrar’s Office ASAP to allow plenty of processing/mailing time.

Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) and Minority Serving Institution Pathways Initiative (MSIPI)

Applications for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) and the Minority Serving Institution Pathway Initiative (MSIPI) are now open. With one application you can apply to both SHPEP and MSIPI sites, selecting up to three locations in total across both programs. The deadline to submit your application for SHPEP and MSIPI is February 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET

SHPEP is a FREE six-week summer enrichment program that prepares college students for a career in the health professions by enhancing their academic proficiency and providing career development opportunities.

MSIPI is a FREE five-week summer enrichment program helping students develop competencies to become successful applicants to health profession programs, plan academic journeys, and gain clinical exposure while engaging in programming at either a Native American-Serving Nontribal Institution (NASNTI) or a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing

Goldfarb School of Nursing is holding open seats for applicants for Spring! No need to wait for our Summer or Fall terms. We know life is busy, so we are holding at least 10 places for applicants who apply by December 16 for the term starting January 13, 2025! Seats are held for those applying for the Upper Division (5 terms/20 months) program, the Accelerated BSN (3 terms/12 months, for those with a bachelor’s degree), and Weekend/Evening BSN (9 terms/36 months part-time)!

Goldfarb School of Nursing is part of nationally recognized BJC HealthCare. Our St. Louis location is on the bustling Washington University School of Medicine campus, which is also home to two of the top hospitals in the country: Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. California State University East Bay

We are now accepting applications for Fall 2025 through June 2, 2025.

The Cal State East Bay Master of Science in Nursing Program seeks to prepare nurses from our diverse, multicultural community to be effective nurse educators, leaders and administrators in clinical, organizational, or academic settings. The curriculum builds and expands upon baccalaureate nursing practice and seeks to prepare nurses with broad knowledge and advanced skills needed for a higher level of nursing practice and leadership. The program allows for a seamless pathway to a practice or research doctoral education for those interested in a doctoral degree. The program provides graduate nursing education in an accessible and flexible delivery approach of online and hybrid courses. The program is designed to be completed in four semesters.

Calvin University

Apply to Calvin University’s MSN program. This part-time, asynchronous, online program prepares nurses to become advanced practice nursing leaders in their workplace and community. Students will learn advanced nursing techniques from a Christian faith-based perspective, allowing them to become skilled nursing leaders.

Students will choose from one of two tracks:

Nurse Educators prepare nurses for leadership positions in nursing education, such as a preceptor, lead nurse educator, or a clinical nurse instructor both in academic settings as well as the clinical arena. Students will gain expertise in teaching/learning theories, designing curriculum, and assessing educational outcomes.

The Clinical Nurse Leader prepares nurses for effective leadership in promoting positive health care outcomes. Students will gain skills in addressing quality improvement and risk management, implementing evidence-based care practices, developing team leadership and collaboration, and utilizing innovative systems and technology.

Upon completion of the degree, both tracks prepare students to seamlessly transition into a Doctor of Nurse Practicing program and/or sit for the national certification exams in their specialty.

Concordia University Wisconsin

Emory & Henry University

Emory & Henry University has seats available for our RN-BSN program for those who have an associate’s degree in nursing and wish to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Spring 2025. The final application deadline is December 1, 2024 in NursingCAS.

We also have open seats for transfer students to our full-time, on campus BSN program for Spring 2025. The application deadline is December 1, 2024 with all documents submitted no later than December 15, 2024 in NursingCAS.

Harding University

The application is open for Harding University’s Master of Science in Nursing programs: Family Nurse Practitioner and Master’s Entry Level into Professional Nursing. Scholarships are available for eligible admitted students. Apply now!

  • Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner: Available to registered nurses with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing and higher degrees. This program prepares family nurse practitioners for outpatient settings across the lifespan. The program consists of online courses with on-campus intensives three times during the entire program. Part-time and full-time tracks are available. Now admitting in Fall, Spring, and Summer.
  • Master of Science in Nursing – Master’s Entry into Professional Nursing: Harding offers the first prelicensure program in Arkansas, preparing students to become advanced entry-level professional nurses who graduate with a Master of Science in nursing. The Master’s Entry into professional nursing will include a focus on health care administration and leadership. The five-semester program is offered year-round. Completed applications are reviewed upon submission.

Two tracks are available for the MEPN program:

  1. Traditional track for those with bachelor’s degree in any field.*
  2. Early entry track for those with 90 undergraduate credit hours.*

*Both MEPN tracks require Arkansas nursing prerequisites

Kettering College

Are you ready to take the next step in your nursing career and are looking for an opportunity to broaden your impact as a leader? If so, check out the Master of Science in Nursing degree at Kettering College. The program is currently accepting applications for the January 2025 cohort (deadline December 1).

The MSN program is focused in nursing leadership and designed to prepare nurses for leadership roles in the rapidly changing healthcare environment – from the bedside to the boardroom. The 39-credit program is scheduled for completion over two years (six semesters) with courses offered online and practicum experiences arranged with healthcare facilities close to the student’s geographic area. Courses are designed for working professionals, and core content includes leadership, health promotion, organizational behavior, human resources, financial management, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional identity, mentoring, and more.

Graduates are academically prepared for the Certified Nurse Manager and Leader certification offered by the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL). Cohorts begin in August and January of each academic year.

Regis College

Regis College is accepting applications to the full-time Direct Entry Master’s in Nursing for Non-Nurses program. The program starts in the Fall only with clinicals starting that same semester.

We do require seven prerequisites (Chemistry I and II, Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Statistics, and Human Development) which could be fulfilled through undergraduate course work or after at other institutions. You may apply and be accepted without all prerequisites having been completed, however, all must be completed by the start of the program in September. Our deadlines for applications to the Fall 2025 cohort are December 1 and February 1.

NEW PROGRAMS


DePaul University

We are excited to announce a new option for our Master’s Entry to Nursing Practice (MENP) program.

Our current offering, or the “accelerated” plan, takes two years (24 consecutive months) to complete, but we are now also offering a new “balanced stride” plan that will take three years (36 consecutive months) to complete. This option should allow for a student to maintain other obligations outside the program while maintaining “full-time student” status for federal financial aid. Students can apply to start the balanced stride MENP in the spring quarter- classes will start March 31, 2025.

Towson University

The Towson University Department of Nursing prepares students to play key roles in delivering outstanding health care to diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities. TU nursing students receive an exceptional education in a student-focused environment.
