Still Time to Apply to the Post-Master’s DNP Hybrid Program

The application for the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Accelerated BSN in Aberdeen, South Dakota is now open. This is a 12-month, second-degree program that starts in January 2016 and ends December 2016. This program is located on the Northern State University campus in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Students who meet the following entry criteria may apply via NursingCAS:
*Students may have up to four pre-nursing courses to complete at the time of application, but courses must be completed and a degree conferred by December 31, 2015.
The application to this program has been extended until August 15, 2015, or until all seats are filled. Priority is given to students whose application is received by August 1, 2015. Shepherd University is pleased to announce the opening of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program for the Fall 2015 semester. The program recently received full accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. Applications are being accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis for the Fall 2015 semester.
The program has two entry points for admission: first, the baccalaureate in nursing to DNP and; second, a post-master’s in nursing to DNP. These different entry points allow the curriculum to be individualized for candidates based on prior education, experience, and choice of specialization. Post-master’s students entering the DNP desiring to change their area of professional practice will be evaluated on an individual basis and may require additional coursework from the professional core or concentration.
Shepherd’s DNP program adheres to the standards identified by the AACN titled the Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Practice Nursing (DNP Essentials). The DNP Essentials identify standard foundational curriculum content and outcomes-based competencies essential for all DNP graduates. The DNP program is conveniently located at Shepherd University Martinsburg Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia with easy access to I-81, Charles Town, WV, Hagerstown, MD, and Winchester, VA.
