One of the benefits of NursingCAS is to provide notifications to applicants about programs that have available space. Did you know that more than 14,000 seats go unfilled annually? Review the listing below to determine if you would like to apply to one of these programs.

 Deadline Extensions

Programs often extend their deadlines in order to allow applicants more time to complete the admissions process. Review the list below to see if any programs you are interested in have extended their deadline.

 Open Seats

Ashland University

Ashland University has open seats in all undergraduate and graduate nursing programs; apply today!

Traditional BSN—a four-year, on-campus program with interactive, state-of-the-art simulation labs along with core, and clinical nursing coursework that prepares students to become Registered Nurses.

Accelerated Nursing Second Degree Program—an on-campus program designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another field, but wish to become a Registered Nurse (15 months/4 semesters).

RN to BSN (online)—designed for working professionals who are licensed as Registered Nurses or preparing to complete their RN licensure. *RN-BSN new tuition rates are $265 per credit hour; $215 per credit hour for Corporate Partners.

Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP)—flexible, online format with occasional on-site requirements throughout the program. Specialty tracks include Family Nurse Practitioner (BSN to DNP), Health Systems Leadership (BSN or MSN to DNP), and Advanced Practice Nurse (MSN to DNP). Application materials due March 31 for May 2019 cohort. *HRSA Nurse Faculty Loan Program also available!

School Nurse Program—post-bachelor certificate program consisting of online coursework and a 160 to 320-hour internship in a school setting. Completion prepares students to practice as a professional School Nurse in alignment with the ANA and NASN Scope and Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice.

Nurse Educator Certificate Program—prepares nurses to teach in a nursing education program or healthcare setting. 12 credit hours of graduate-level online coursework and 48-hour practicum/project.

Belmont University

Belmont University is currently accepting applications. The University is located in Nashville, Tennessee and offers on-campus programs for advanced nursing practice. Since 2004 (14 years) 100% of our MSN and DNP graduates have passed the national certification exam for FNPs on their first attempt, well above the national average pass rate of 84%.


Kentucky State University

The Kentucky State University School of Nursing & Health Sciences online RN-BSN and BSN-DNP programs are currently accepting applications for fall 2019 admission. Seats remain available for qualified applicants. The application deadline for both programs is March 15, 2019. Admission criteria for both programs can be found on our website.


Mississippi College

Mississippi College School of Nursing is inviting applications for RN-BSN student seats. Competitively priced, we have a rolling admission process with six (6) intakes per year (January, March, May, June, August, and October). Online or hybrid applications welcome.

Mississippi College School of Nursing is also inviting applications for the Accelerated BSN (with a non-nursing first degree). The closing date to create an account in NursingCAS is February 1st for fall 2019, and Sept 1st for spring 2020. Applications that are started in NursingCAS prior to the closing date will have 6 weeks to finish the transcript verification process (March 15 for fall 2019; Oct 15 for spring 2020).

Roseman University of Health Sciences

Roseman University offers an 18-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing program designed to prepare students for entry level registered nurse positions in a variety of healthcare environments. Union College – Nebraska

The application deadline has been extended to January 15, 2019, for the summer (May) 2019 Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at MGH Institute of Health Professions.

University of Tennessee – Knoxville

There are still seats available for the June 2019 Accelerated BSN Cohort! We have extended our application deadline to January 2, 2019. The University of Tennessee Accelerated BSN is a 12-month program that starts in summer 2019: (June – May), to be completed in three full-time semesters.

  • Direct transfer of previous baccalaureate degree credits
  • Minimum prerequisite course requirements

 New Programs

Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

This unique and innovative full-time academic program was developed with funding through the HRSA Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention (NEPQR) Program. The program, 1) is an intensive, accelerated four semester program with students graduating with a BSN, 2) coursework consists of hybrid, on-campus and online courses, 3) includes nine semester hours of graduate coursework – dual credit, and 4) is enriched through art integration.

Eligibility to the TAMUCC CONHS Accelerated BSN program:

  • Hold an earned baccalaureate degree in any field from a national/regional accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in all prerequisite courses.
  • Complete or be on track to complete all core curriculum and nursing prerequisites prior to the expected semester of entry to the nursing program.
    NOTE: Courses do not have to be completed prior to application. You must indicate any courses in-progress or planned for future semesters on your NursingCAS application. Failure to include this information will deem your application incomplete.
  • Meet Essential Qualifications for Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Students located under the Undergraduate Students Tab on this page.
  • You must have a completed TAMUCC application in NursingCAS prior to the deadline.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure all eligibility requirements are met and all requirements for the application have been completed.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center

The College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is proud to announce our opening of a Post-DNP Certificate program for Fall 2019 Admission: Post-DNP Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate. The Post-DNP certificate is offered online to DNP-prepared APRNs who are certified in another specialty. Please read detailed program information and admission requirements on our website (select Post-DNP Pediatric Acute Care on the left).

This is the first time the College offers the Post-DNP Pediatric Acute Care Certificate for Fall admission.
