Primary contacts should have received a renewal notice email last week. If there have been staff changes at your school or your school’s primary contact did not receive a renewal notice to participate in the 2019 – 2020 NursingCAS cycle please alert Caroline Kane.

Please refer to the FAQs for more details on the cycle and contact the NursingCAS team with any questions. There is information and FAQs for applicants posted on nursingcas.org as well, feel free to share this information.
If your school would like to use the Organizational-Level Custom Questions Configuration option then please notify Caroline Kane by May 17, so we can activate this option for your school in time for the opening of the Configuration Portal for the 2019 – 2020 Cycle. Note, program-level custom questions will remain an option and is the best configuration choice for schools that ask different questions for each program offered.
The second Academic Update (AU) period of the 2018-2019 application cycle begins on May 30 and ends on August 30. AU allows applicants to update their coursework section to include newly completed or planned courses, read more about how this works for applicants. Note that AU applicants are flagged in WebAdMIT.
It’s not too late to register for the Liaison User Conference. This event is designed for all CAS/WebAdMIT users and is being held in Boston, MA on June 27-28 at the Westin Waterfront hotel. There has been a 5.7% increase in applicants identifying as males during the 2018 – 2019 application cycle thus far as compared to the 2017 – 2018 application cycle over the same timeframe, August – April.
Have you reached out to your “In Progress” applicants yet? NursingCAS gives you the ability to send emails to both in progress and submitted applicants directly through WebAdMIT. A major benefit of sending applicant emails through WebAdMIT is that everything is tracked. Other communications you may want to send are reminder emails, interview and event invitations, or status and acceptance notices. Refer to the WebAdMIT Help Center for help with the email tool.
Reminder: you can now send Attachments in emails via NursingCAS. You can also extend your program deadline if necessary, see instructions.

Echo-targeting is an affordable banner advertising tool that allows participating universities to market their nursing program to prospective students. US Senate Vows to Strengthen Academic Nursing During National Nurses Week
During National Nurses Week, which took place last week, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) introduced S. 1399 Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019. The new legislation will help strengthen academic nursing and has received public support from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) since it was announced.
Education Requirements for Advanced Nursing are Evolving
Advance practice nursing — that which requires postgraduate education — is an in-demand profession. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that overall employment of nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives and nurse practitioners will grow 31% from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Private Colleges Set New Record on Tuition Discounts
Private colleges are offering students discounts on tuition and fees at record-high rates, according to the annual Tuition Discounting Study, released on Thursday by the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
