The NursingCAS Applicant Newsletter is a monthly newsletter intended to keep you informed about programs with available space, deadline extensions, and new programs added to NursingCAS. The newsletter will feature:

  • Open Seats: One of the benefits of NursingCAS is to provide notifications to applicants about programs that have available space. Review the listing below to determine if you would like to apply to one of these programs.
  • Deadline Extensions: Programs often extend their deadlines in order to allow applicants more time to complete the admissions process. Review the list below to see if any programs you are interested in have extended their deadline.
  • New Programs: New programs are added to NursingCAS on a continual basis. Discover and learn about new program offerings available to you by reviewing the listings below.

Applicants can also view the NursingCAS Events Calendar, where NursingCAS schools provide prospective students with information on events like upcoming webinars and information sessions throughout the application cycle.

The 2023 – 2024 NursingCAS Application Cycle opened on August 10, 2023.

The last date to submit to the 2022 – 2023 Cycle is January 31, 2024. You will need to submit your application for the current cycle by 11:59 PM EST on January 31 for it to be considered by your program of interest (note you must abide by your selected program’s deadline).

The 2023 – 2024 NursingCAS application cycle opened on August 10. Applicants are able to create a new account or log back into an existing account using the “Re-Applicant” feature. The Re-Applicant Feature allows you to carry over your data and transcripts from your previous NursingCAS application to the 2023 – 2024 application. The “Re-Applicant” feature is available to all users who had an active NursingCAS account during the previous application cycle regardless of whether your application was verified or even submitted to a program during that time. 

To simplify the transition to the new cycle, frequently asked questions and answers are outlined on our website.

Augsburg University

Augsburg University is currently accepting applications for open seats in its Master of Arts in Nursing (Leadership) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-bachelors Family Nurse Practitioner, and post-masters Transcultural Nursing Leadership). Highlights of these programs include:

  • Community Immersion Experiences (Oaxaca, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Namibia, Pine Ridge Reservation),

Baldwin Wallace University

Baldwin Wallace University, located near Cleveland, Ohio, is accepting applications for our 15-month Accelerated BSN track.

The mission of Baldwin Wallace University department of nursing is to provide outstanding learning opportunities for students who desire to acquire evidenced-based knowledge encompassing the art and science of nursing practice. The ABSN is designed for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field outside of nursing and are interested in earning their BSN.

If you are ready for a successful career in nursing, we would highly encourage you to apply for our Fall 2024 cohort! Application details can be found on our website. Please note that you can still be working on prerequisite courses by the time you apply. Our priority consideration deadline to apply is November 15, 2023.

Carroll College – Montana

Carroll College in Helena, Montana is still accepting applications for our 15-month program in Accelerated Nursing. Our priority deadline is October 1 and we encourage all interested applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible to be considered for our 20-student cohort.

Our Nursing students are sought after by some of the nation’s best hospitals and clinics because our students are exceptionally well-prepared for a nursing career. Employers know our Accelerated Nursing students class NCLEX first-time pass rates are nearly 100%, and our students are socially and technically skilled to handle whatever an adventure in Nursing throws at them. Concordia University Wisconsin

Concordia University Wisconsin’s 15-month Accelerated Second-Degree BSN program is built on a Christian foundation, which means you will be set apart as the nurse who cares for their patients and coworkers in mind, body, and spirit. Creighton University

Creighton University’s Accelerated BSN final application deadline for the Spring 2024 (January) entry term is quickly approaching! Be sure to submit your completed application and all application materials by October 15 to be considered.

  • Application Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Official transcripts from every college/university attended
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement

Prerequisites can be in-progress when you apply to the program, but applicants must have one of the following course sequences completed before the application deadline:

  • General Chemistry and Anatomy (A&P I)

Holy Family University

Oregon Health & Science University

There is still time to apply for the OHSU School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia DNP program!

The CRNA application to start with the Summer 2024 cohort will close on October 11. Palm Beach Atlantic University

Palm Beach Atlantic University has open seats at both our West Palm Beach campus and our Orlando campus.

NEW PROGRAMS


Colorado Mesa University

The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Graduate Nursing Program offers Master of Science in Nursing degrees in Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner tracks. CMU also offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner dual track.

CMU’s Family Nurse Practitioner program has been ranked as one of the most affordable programs in the country according to Online U. Both the MSN and DNP degrees are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Part-time and full-time attendance options exist for all degrees and tracks. Courses are offered online, allowing students to reside in their home communities; however, some travel to campus is expected as students move through the program.

At CMU, students have access to relatively small class sizes, allowing for meaningful interactions with peers and course faculty. University of La Verne

The University of La Verne John A. Ware School of Nursing is introducing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN) Program.

This online program is designed to meet the needs of the CA-licensed RN professional seeking their BSN completion degree. This program involves 28 units of core courses, with as little as 9 months required for completion. Fall Session II starts: October 23, 2023. Spring Session I starts: January 29, 2024. Spring Session II starts: April 1,2024.

Admission Requirements:

  • Completed application
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended, including an Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Required prerequisite courses in the following areas with a grade of C or better:

  • Oral communication
  • Written communication
  • Anatomy with lab
  • Physiology with lab
  • Microbiology with lab
  • Chemistry
  • Statistics*

*If Statistics is not completed at the time of admission, the student must complete Statistics concurrently with nursing courses in consultation with Advisor. The School of Nursing recommends completing a ULV GE Statistics course. The student’s individualized curriculum plan may be longer than 9-months depending on the number of courses needed to complete ULV required 128 units for a Bachelor’s degree.

The following items are required for admission:

  • Current unencumbered RN license (license must be on the BreEZe system for California licenses.
  • New graduates to show proof of NCLEX unofficial results 
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae
  • One letter of recommendation from an academic instructor or clinical supervisor
  • Professional goal statement of no more than two pages (optional)
